David Shearin is the pastor and Executive Director of Street Life Ministries, a non-profit Christian based organization focused on humanitarian outreach services and designed to assist the people who live on the street in Menlo Park and Redwood City. Four nights a week, Street Life Ministries (SLM) brings the Word of God along with a hot meal to those less fortunate and provides some of the basic necessities of life: toiletries, clothing, sleeping bags, and referrals to drug and alcohol treatment centers and shelters.
David was born in Redwood City and attended local public schools, graduating from Redwood High School in 1989. He worked for Local 85 of the Teamsters Union, during which time he drove tractor-trailer trucks. He has also experienced first-hand the struggles of addiction and the reality of life on the streets. Since his own recovery in 2005, he has pursued a calling to serve those who are broken and in need. He became the executive director of Street Life Ministries in 2007. In addition to the 500-plus hot meals served each week to men, women and children, David has personally connected hundreds of people to drug and alcohol treatment centers and shelters.
Recently he decided to continue his education at the College of San Mateo, where he studied nonprofit management.
David and his wife, Shawn, who works alongside him, have a young son named Isaiah.
